We’re a small team of engineers, designers, fishing enthusiasts... and that other guy. We've spent about five years developing the product you're holding, and we truly hope you will enjoy it. Below you'll find all the necessary information to get started: safety instructions and the manual. If you’re not a fan of manuals, we ask you to make an exception this time—please read it to ensure proper and safe use.
Both the firmware and app are constantly evolving, with new features and bug fixes on the way to enhance your experience so please make sure you always use the latest software version. Thank you for joining our journey. The future holds exciting things, and we can’t wait to share them with you.

pREVIOUS UPDATES: 2024-09-23
Known issues:
1. (reported 2024-09-23) PROBE fail to log casts when the app is not open/active. While our team investigates and fix this bug, as a workaround - please have the PROBE app open while casting if you experience this behaviour.
safety information:
WARNING:
Before using PROBE, please read the entire manual to ensure proper and safe use.
Choking Hazard
Always keep PROBE away from children, as they might mistake it for candy.
Do Not Disassemble
Do not attempt to disassemble PROBE, throw it into fire, or insert sharp objects into its casing.
Avoid Inserting Objects
PROBE does not have buttons. The tiny hole for the depth sensor is not a button, so do not insert objects into it.
Store Properly
Do not store PROBE in direct sunlight, extreme heat, or freezing environments.
Cleaning
After each use, rinse PROBE thoroughly with fresh tap water. Do not use sharp objects or chemicals to clean it—PROBE only likes water. Do not clean the device under high pressure of water or air, as it may damage the depth sensor.
Intended Use Only
PROBE is designed solely for fishing. We know it might be tempting to use it for other purposes, but please don’t.
User Manual
Charging
Charge PROBE: Only use the included USB-C/magnetic cable to charge PROBE. The red LED will turn off when fully charged (about 2 hours). We recommend charging PROBE before each day of fishing.
Power Bank Use: If using a power bank, ensure it doesn’t have an auto-off function, as PROBE's small battery may not be detected. Alternatively, consider using a "stay alive" device.
Download the App
Get the App: Download the PROBE Fishing app from the App Store or Google Play by searching "PROBE Fishing."
Pair PROBE to Your Phone
Pairing: Go to SETTINGS in the app and press ADD PROBE. When PROBE is removed from its charger, the app will show PROBE FOUND (you might experience a 20-second delay the first time you pair). Connect and name your PROBE. The app might ask if you want to download the latest firmware—go for it! We continually update the firmware to improve your experience. If prompted during the update, place PROBE back on its charger for a few seconds. The process is straightforward, so no worries.
Attach PROBE
Attachment: Use float stoppers (not included) to attach PROBE to your fishing line, positioning it above the leader. Attach PROBE with the thicker part facing you and the slim part toward your lure.
Usage
Operation: PROBE has no buttons; it operates autonomously. The LED will blink green when it’s ready and connected to the app, blue when it’s trying to connect, and orange means that PROBE is taking a nap (after a few minutes of inactivity). To wake it, give it a few gentle taps or toss it into the water – that will wake up most things.
The rest is straightforward. Simply cast and let PROBE do its job. It will log your casts, track depths, and monitor surrounding water temperatures. PLEASE NOTE: You need to have the app open, and your phone unlocked, to receive the data from PROBE once it resurfaces. This is just for now, and it’s a high priority for us to enable background logging when your phone is locked. Stay tuned for updates.
